Talking on the Theme: Be filled with the Holy Spirit;Living the spirit filled life (Eph. 5:18), Rev. Daniel Boadu said, the Ephesian Church being admonished by Paul is the present day Turkey which is now an Islamic state because they could not hold on to what was taught them.<br />
Being filled with the Holy Spirit is not only a command but also a promise. The Holy Spirit can use whoever will allow him/herself to be filled being young or old.<br />
Baptism / infilling are similar but different. Baptism comes once after confession but infilling is continuous; daily. Any one who is continually filled with the Holy Spirit is always strong in the Lord.<br />
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a>Those filled with the Holy Spirit are conscious of the word of God and follow it. Samuel being filled with the Holy Spirit did not emulate the bed behaviour of the sons of Eli. Joseph being filled with the Holy Spirit did not give in to Portipher's wife's proposal.<br />
<br />
He said, God has given our friends and colleagues to us as gifts. They are to help us in times of need.<br />
<br />
He admonished the Junior Youth to allow God to bless them by giving their lives to God. He said, we should know where we are coming from and where we are going. Allowing friends to influence one's life negatively is a mistake one will always regret.<br />
<br />
The Promise of God will always be done but we play a part in it's accomplishment.ABUAKWA YOUTHhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06694169808926746772noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1405793571040607635.post-33223995407208937052015-08-28T10:15:00.001-07:002015-08-28T10:15:50.312-07:00Zone 2 JY ConventionBy the grace of God, the Zone 2 Junior Youth Convention commences today, Friday 28th August, 2015. <div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Calibri body","serif"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Mr. Chairman, I don’t think anyone here is
ignorant of the purpose of our gathering here but I just want to remind all of
us that we have come once again to review our activities for the past year and
to make new plans for the year ahead. I want to bring to the notice of the
whole house that, our purpose does not end at the end of conference but
continues throughout the year. This is because the implementation of decisions
made here is very paramount. It is however very sad that when decisions are
made, the implementation becomes difficult especially when it calls for our
commitment. I therefore admonish all to be vigilant and have the Presbytery at
heart when we are making decisions that will help the progress of the Presbytery.
Let us all think of going forward but not backwards. As Dr. Kwame Nkrumah said

FOR CONFERENCE: “BE FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT” {EPH. 5: 18}<o:p></o:p></span></u></b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Calibri body","serif"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 107%;"> A
lady went to a jeweler to get her watch fixed. The jeweler disappeared and came
back quickly with the watch running perfectly. She asked him, “How could you
fix it in such a short time?” He told her that it only needed a small battery.
All this time the lady had been trying to wind the watch. She didn’t know she
only needed a battery to keep it running. Brethren, this is so much like the
Christian life. Many times we do not realize the inner power that we have in
the Holy Spirit. He can run everything in our life, but so often we think we
have to take matters into our own hands. So we live a powerless life. The lack
of reality, godliness, power, and fruit in our lives is due to unbelief and our
lack of fellowship with the Holy Spirit. We need to go deeper in partnership
with the Holy Spirit if we want to live powerful lives. Many of us are living
lives with dead batteries. We feel dead inside. We must begin fellowshipping
with the Holy Spirit. He will bring life to our hearts! He will show us the way
to really live and find fulfilment. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Calibri body","serif"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 107%;">How then do we fellowship with the Holy
Spirit? Fellowship with the Holy Spirit is not complicated. It’s all about a
two-way dialogue. We learn to share our hearts freely with the Spirit. We start
the conversation, and He speaks back to us. But we must stay engaged. He wants
our heart connection. For out of our abiding connection with the Holy Spirit
will flow all the issues of life (love, joy, peace, etc. Proverbs 4:23, John
7:38). One way to enhance your fellowship with the Holy Spirit is by using these
5 practical words acrostic as; T-R-U-S-T.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

the eyes of my understanding, give me the spirit of wisdom and understanding,
etc.”<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<b><u><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Calibri body","serif"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 107%;">EVANGELISM<o:p></o:p></span></u></b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Calibri body","serif"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Evangelism has been on the heart of the
youth of this Presbytery as it is on the heart of God. We are therefore
committed to winning the world around us for the Lord through any available
evangelistic activity. It is for this reason that it was decided last year that
we purchase a Public Address system to aid P-Yice and other activities. I want
to inform the house that this decision has partially been implemented resulting
in the purchase of a pair of full range speakers. This, as we all know is
useful for nothing if other items are not there. It is therefore my humble
appeal to all districts to settle all their debts by the close of this program
for us to continue with the task ahead. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Calibri body","serif"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Beloved in Christ, we are very passionate
about reviving weak guilds and establishing new ones. This is one of the
reasons why a survey was carried out in the Presbytery to know the strength of
all locals. I therefore want to throw the challenge to all of us to come on
board to make sure that by the end of the year YPG is established in at least
80% of the locals without YPG. Colleagues, Evangelism should not be limited to
the Presbytery but it should be a routine activity for every individual and the
local. As we experience the Holy Spirit in us, let us individually witness the
risen Christ to at least one person every day. Brethren, if in the near future
you are asked by the owner of the vineyard to give account of your contribution
to the development of God’s kingdom, what will you say? Whatever position you
are holding, or even if you are not in position, you are tasked to contribute to
the building of the church. Therefore you must ask yourself what name are you
making and what mark are you leaving behind? <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Calibri body","serif"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 107%;">To help the locals fulfil this task we want
to introduce revivals for locals. On this we entreat branch executive members
to look for dates and inform the Presbytery through their District Presidents
for us to come with a team to help them reach out to the world around them. I
look forward to receive report on this next year. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Calibri body","serif"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Mr. Chairman, P-Yice has been in existence
in the presbytery for 5 years. We are therefore celebrating the 5th
anniversary of this program to look at the achievements, challenges and plan
the way forward. The evangelism secretary will throw more light on this to
conference. Furthermore, I charging all Districts to embark on evangelism and
give on it report annually to Presbytery.

<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Calibri body","serif"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Without education, the community ceases to
exist. The Y. P. G. and the church as a whole will be in a rut if the future
generation is not well educated. Again for us to catch up with and surpass the
advancing world, educating the young ones cannot be left out. It is therefore
very prudent for us as an institution to be concerned about the education of
our younger siblings. Though education is expensive, we cannot accept to be
ignorant. It is against this background that last year it was decided that a
scholarship scheme be set up to assist the youth of the Presbytery. Mr. D. K. Opoku
committee has done a marvelous job by coming out with a document that has been
discussed by council and has been corrected and approved by the Presbytery.
What is left is our commitment to whatever is in the document. I want to
comment on two things in the document.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

the youth week celebration for some years past and the program outline in the
youth guide gives me two major necessities of the program. The first one is
that, it serves as a period for us to mobilize ourselves and revive the guild.
The second is an opportunity for us to raise funds to aid the activities of the
guild. It is however unfortunate to note that, the latter has been given much
attention to the detriment of the former. It is my plea that we give equal
attention to all our activities. I therefore commend those who were able to organize
the week long program effectively. On the distribution of the proceeds, last

Only three people from Akyem Abuakwa wrote this essay. They are Harrison Osei
from Kyebi, Alfred Kwarteng from Kade and Clement Sam-Dadzie from Kwabeng.
Their efforts are worthy of commendation. I am happy to further inform the
house that two of them progressed to the next stage of the competition and
performed very well at the interview. Again Clement went through and has been
selected to join the celebration in either Germany or Switzerland in June. Let
us all give thanks to God and take part in such activities whenever they come.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%;">The
Holy Spirit manifest, operates, and acts in several ways in the life of the
believer. First, He <u>seals</u> every believer who first comes to the faith,
accepting Jesus as Lord and Saviour. Second, we also hear of the Spirit <u>empowering
</u>believers. Third, we also know that the same Spirit will <u>quicken</u> our
mortal bodies on the day of resurrection. There also the <u>outpouring</u> of
the Holy Spirit on believers. Believers again may be <u>baptized</u> by the
Spirit, <u>filled</u> with the Spirit or at times the Spirit may come <u>upon</u>
a person or <u>indwell</u> the person. All these demonstrate the several
operations and activities in the life of the believer (Junior Youth Guide
Volume 4, 2005)<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%;">In the words of Varley (1963) ( cited in MacArther,
2013), “the world has yet to see what God can do with and for and through a man
who is fully and wholly consecrated to Him.” Varley didn’t say he had to be
educated, or brilliant, or anything else. He just has to be a man. One who
avails oneself.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%;">The
key to rightly living the Christian life is being controlled by the Holy
Spirit, who provides energy for walking “worthy of the calling with which you
have been called” (Eph. 4:1). Unless you are controlled by the Spirit of God,
you can never walk in humility, love, unity, light, and wisdom. The life of God
in the soul of man is the only way anyone can live a righteous life. To walk
without the spirit therefore is to walk without wisdom (Eph. 5:15-17). <o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%;">Mr.
Chairman, I want to seize this opportunity to admonish all J.Y leaders to intensify
our normal practice of joining the mother church for forenoon service either at
the end of every month or at the beginning of every month. Some locals remain
in their place of worship almost throughout the year. The purpose of this
motive is to assist the J.Y members to learn from the adult service and to
emulate it. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<b><i><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%;">‘</span></i></b><i><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%;">Mock service’<b> </b></span></i><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%;">is
probably one useful tool I believe will help groom the young ones in
Presbyterianism. Periodic organization of the aforementioned service will not
only cause the J.Y members to learn but will also build their confidence. In
order to promote this notion I beseech conference to deduce means for the
realization of mock service in all locals. Either we agree on a specific date
whereby all locals will organize mock service simultaneously or each local
select a date of convenience. Secondly, either this service is being conducted
on Sunday forenoon service or on any other day in the presence of the
congregation. Furthermore, either this service is held once a year or periodically
as per the decision of conference. Let me add also that each District shall
report on it yearly.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%;">A
very disturbing realization is the fact that some locals in our noble
presbytery do not have a place of worship for the J.Y members. Due to this the J.Y members worship with
adult every Sunday. This challenge does not only prevent them from learning
their study materials but also weakens the effectiveness of the group. My plea to all agents is that they ensure
that our J.Y members get a place of worship as well as a leader.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

the programme of activities presented in the 2015 J.Y guide and have realize
that the activities are fruitful to the growth of the J.Y members in our
church. I therefore supplicate that all leaders must make good use of it. Locals who find it difficult to meet after
Sunday service must infuse the programmes into Sunday service.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

our examples whether good or bad because they have great reverence for us. In

affect their faith and pull them out of this church. As a result of this,
teaching services on topics like baptism, confirmation, communion, prayer,

beloved in Christ, I suppose that, if anyone should be abreast, and boast with

this because For the past six {6} years the Presbyterian church of Ghana has
deliberated on the personality, manifestation and operation of the Holy Spirit
in the church and in the life of the Believer, this proves our true identity as
not belonging to the flesh but to the Holy Spirit {ii Corinthians 10: 3}. This
year, the Church’s concern is to see the promise of Jesus Christ in {John
14:15-18} fulfilled in the lives of her members and for our conference J. Y.
leaders in Akyem Abuakwa. We see this promise fulfilled in the first apostles
in <i>Acts 2:1-4.‘’And in the fulfilling of
the day of Pentecost, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly
a sound came out of the heaven as borne along by the rushing of a mighty wind,
and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. And tongues as of fire
appeared to them, being distributed; and it sat upon each of them. AND THEY
WERE ALL FILLED OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, and began to speak in other languages, as
the Spirit gave them utterance.</i> This is our time to carry the ministry of
God and we need the in - filling of the Holy Spirit. Paul’s use of being drunk
with wine in contrast with being filled with the Holy Spirit demonstrates the
influence that the Holy Spirit has on the believer as alcohol on a drunkard.
People intentionally drink to be able to do what they could not do. For
instance to engage in riot. Let us also allow ourselves to be filled with the
Holy Spirit to be able to do what we could not do as mere mortals.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<i><u><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%; mso-ansi-language: EN-GB; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;">DISCIPLESHIP</span></u></i><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%; mso-ansi-language: EN-GB; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;">: Ladies and Gentlemen, the
greatest need of the church today is discipleship. It is not surprising
therefore that Jesus ended His earthly ministry by issuing the great commission
{MATT. 28:18-20}. A disciple is someone who has made a personal choice to be a
votary of Jesus Christ. He is someone who learns from the spirit of Christ,
accepts and assists in spreading the good news. God’s greatest desire and
purpose for everyone in His church is to grow in Christ, live the abundant
Christian life and bear fruit that glorifies God. God demands that we give our
lives back to him and live a Christ like life. According to H. A. Evans Hopkins
cited in <i><u>Rooted in Christ</u></i> “Nothing
less than unconditional surrender could ever be a fitting response to His
sacrifice at Calvary. Love so amazing, so divine could never be satisfied with
less than our souls, our lives, our all’’. Let us therefore at a forum like
this not think of only reports and criticisms but also assess our lives as
workers in His divine vineyard.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%; mso-ansi-language: EN-GB; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;"> Dr David A. Dewitt also wrote ‘’ Biblical
discipleship is the act of one person intentionally impacting the life of some
other person in the direction of Christ-likeness’’. This no different from our
work as J Y leaders. We are indeed to impact the lives of our younger ones and
draw them closer to God. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%; mso-ansi-language: EN-GB; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;">It
is very disheartening to see the Youth drifting out of the church. A man once
said the average age of the church is 55years which means the church is growing
old. A careful search into this unfortunate situation reveals that those who
leave are not deeply rooted in Christ. I therefore want to make the following
recommendations to this conference and to the mother presbytery as well: <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%; mso-ansi-language: EN-GB; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;">{i}That <i><u>Rooted in Christ,</u></i> a discipleship material prepared by the
department of mission and evangelism be adopted by the JY as a study material<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%; mso-ansi-language: EN-GB; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;">{ii}That confirmants be
taking through a three months course using the <i><u>Rooted in Christ</u></i> during their preparation.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%; mso-ansi-language: EN-GB; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;">In
so doing I hope they will come to understand, appreciate and gain deeper root
in the faith in which they find themselves.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<i><u><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%; mso-ansi-language: EN-GB; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;">EDUCATION</span></u></i><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%; mso-ansi-language: EN-GB; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;">: ‘’Education is what
survives when what has been learned has been forgotten’’ said B. F. Skinner.
Educated person can never be deprived of his knowledge. It is therefore very
prudent to assist the younger generation to gain quality education. Our church
will be in a rut if the future generation is not well educated. It therefore
behoves on us as JY leaders to inculcate in our members the love for education.
It is for this reason that last year I spoke of an education funds to support
our young ones. A document has been drafted and will very soon be in operation.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

lives of the people you are leading. That is the 7-7-7 prayer plan: Pray for 7
people a day, for 7 minutes, for 7 days a week. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
